What People Say:
"The 11+ plus exam was no walk in the park.
It was more of a walk through briars, thorns and such.
All jokes aside, it was all worth it in the end.
Thanks to the amazing coaching given at Thurrock Tuition Centre by Mrs Shola, Ms Rachel and all teachers alike, I am pleased to say that I didn’t just qualify for the school of my choice; I also qualified for the school I thought was impossible for me to get in.
At Thurrock Tuition Centre, I was aided in all ways possible by my tutors in and out of the centre. Whenever there was a question I didn’t understand, whether it was from my homework, my workbooks or school, there was no hesitation in asking my tutors- who assisted me lovingly. They were happy to send me extra worksheets as requested by my mum. These helped me immensely, especially during the lockdown.
We also did an 11+ summer school, which although seemingly tedious, was very helpful. Children may feel as if it is a waste of their summer, but I assure you it is not. There were so many things learnt over the six weeks and we were shown the format of the tests in the exam. I found that we were also provided with similar questions.
Since the beginning of Year 5, I was waking up as early as 6.a.m to do up to one hour of work before school. Every day, it totalled up to me doing four mock tests.
My favourite subject is English, which I finish in no time! However, by spending more time on my math, I managed to get even with the two subjects.
I did a total of five exams: Medway, Kent, CCHS, Bexley, Essex. The most straightforward in my opinion was Medway, followed by Kent. Bexley wasn’t as simple, but it wasn’t too tricky.
However, the hardest ones were CCHS and Essex. I was surprised with my scores for these two tests as I ended up passing these. I remember feeling overwhelmed when reading the questions, but after reading multiple times, I realised that the questions were just an easy equation disguised as something more complicated. It is helpful to know that these questions often look intimidating because of the multiple steps they are formed of. For example, a group of people will potentially look more threatening than one single person.
My advice for children who will be sitting the exam next year is that do not focus solely on the subjects you know, but more of the ones you don’t so that you will become better. Keep practising because evidently the more you practise the easier it becomes."
"Words & phrases like academic excellence, continual encouragement, supportive (spiritual & emotional), nurture, highly knowledgeable, friendly & firm, focused & well trained to bring d best out of the children are apt in describing this centre. I entrusted my son in their tutelage & there are no regrets. My younger son has also started his journey toward the great '11+' exams and I'm confident that they will deliver greatly as usual. Highly recommended to every parent looking for extra tuition for their cherub - from 4 to 16. Thanks Aunties. - NS"

"Very supportive and hard working tutors. They take a genuine interest in the child, they go above and beyond their call of duty to support both the child and parents with plans and preparations for success in the 11+ exams. They communicate regularly with the parents discussing practical ways of challenging our child at home and kept us informed of our child's progress and areas to work on. My daughter was tutored by them and passed all her 3 grammar school exams and independent school exam, she got offered places are Wilmington Grammar and Southend grammar. - NA"
